"Rufus in Motion"                                                      2009

I've always been fascinated by automata, those antique (usually antique; there are quite a few brilliant contemporary automata crafters) kinetic artworks where figures move by using a crank connected to an intricate set of gears. "Rufus in Motion" is my first automata; hopefully the first of many. When the crank is turned, the fish bobs up and down and "dances". It's far from perfect —the gears are a bit tricky for a novice —but it looks great anyway.
